Thames Valley

Taylor Root legal recruitment - Thames Valley map imageEurope’s ‘Silicon Valley’ is home to a dynamic blend of commerce, industry and beautiful countryside.

With its excellent road and rail network and close proximity to London and its airports, the region is home to some of the world's leading businesses; ten of the top 50 global organisations have their European headquarters in the region.

Almost half the Thames Valley is designated as areas of outstanding natural beauty. From the scenic splendour of Henley, home of the Royal Regatta, to the cosmopolitan city of Oxford and the modern town of Reading, the region offers plenty to fans of ancient and modern alike.

Taylor Root legal recruitment - Thames Valley map imageLocated a mere 40 miles west of London, Reading has undergone a dramatic transformation over the last decade. The Oracle, an impressive amalgamation of shopping and leisure facilities, opened its doors on the banks of the River Kennet immediately before the turn of the millennium and a wealth of bars and cafés have sprung up across the town, lending it a distinct cosmopolitan feel.

To the west, Oxford is a melting pot of old and new. Famous for its university and home to royalty and scholars for centuries, the ancient city bustles with a blend of modern shopping centres, historic buildings and museums, and contemporary bars and restaurants.

The region’s close proximity to London does mean that its housing is amongst the most expensive in the UK. With the capital’s economy performing well and its housing market robust, property values increased in the Thames Valley by around 10% on average last year.
