A 5-year qualified funds/corporate lawyer working for an international law firm

One aspect of my life that hasn't changed following the move is the level of work. I am still dealing with blue-chip clients and involved in internationally reported transactions and the establishment/regulation of global hedge funds. Having come from a corporate lawyer background, I have had to adjust to working more self-sufficiently rather than as part of a much larger team, but the support network is excellent in the firm meaning that you never feel as if you are left out on a limb. The legal concepts are very similar to those I am used to, but I am actually finding that I am probably doing a greater variety of work which is excellent both from a learning perspective and longevity in the role.

Very few people buy properties over here, so the vast majority are living in rental accommodation. There is a huge variety of properties available, from one bed flats to 5 bedroom mansions, and so you are given a great deal of flexibility about the amount you wish to spend. Given the stunning aesthetic nature of the islands, you will do very well to find a place that doesn't have a beautiful view which makes getting up in the morning slightly easier. If you are an outdoors/sporty type person, this lifestyle couldn't be better. Along with every possible water sport, the snorkelling/diving is some of the best in the world and most onshore sports have clubs over here that allow you to easily integrate yourself into the island way of life. There are numerous bars and excellent restaurants all over the islands, you certainly won't be spoilt for choice. Drink prices are much cheaper compared to the UK, and food on the whole is cheaper as well.

The move has been a fantastic success; my lifestyle has altered rapidly and undoubtedly for the better. The ability to do a very high level of work in regular hours that therefore allow you to exploit all that the islands have to offer simply can't be beaten.
