Commerce & Industry

The Middle East has now diversified its business enough to support almost all areas of commerce and industry, in the same mould as the Western world.

Government led initiatives have meant that Western businesses can set up relatively easily, particularly in Dubai where a model of specific free-zones has created hubs that cater for export and trade, manufacturing, heavy industry, FMCG, pharmaceuticals, telecoms, transport, energy and media. Other Emirates and Middle Eastern countries are swiftly coming up with their own plans.

Roles often have a regional feel and lawyers will often find themselves working multi-party multi-jurisdictional projects, through international JV’s and partnerships, covering wide geographical remits.

Depending on sector expertise, the most commonly sought after lawyers are corporate / commercial, but there are often demands for IT, telecoms, IP, projects, energy, oil and gas, construction, dispute resolution and real estate.
