Exceptional Opportunities
Corporate
Lawyers within Covington’s London corporate practice work on a broad variety of matters, including mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions, private equity and venture capital investments, finance, joint ventures and strategic alliances. In addition, our corporate group includes lawyers who focus on private equity fund transactions and formations, tax, financial services regulation, and employment matters. Most of our corporate work is international in nature. Our clients include large multinational corporations, financial institutions, private equity groups, start-up and midsize private and public companies, and entrepreneurs. Our London corporate group is recognised by Legal 500, Chambers and PLC.
We are looking to strengthen further our team by recruiting versatile and enterprising associates who want to actively participate in a broad scope of quality, complex international corporate transactions for a range of different types of client. You would become an important part of our close-knit team and collegial and supportive environment - you would also be at the heart of our growth plans over future years. This is an excellent opportunity for exceptional associates to gain the recognition they deserve.
In particular we are looking to fill the following position:
• +4 PQE Corporate Lawyer
The successful candidate will have broad experience within a leading corporate practice and will have experience managing large and complex cross border M&A, equity capital markets (in particular AIM and LSE main market listings, secondary offerings, private placements, and similar UK corporate finance work) and other corporate transactions. Ideally you will have additional experience in a range of corporate matters and be able to assume the lead associate’s role on both public and private M&A transactions, LBOs and private equity transactions, capital markets matters such as AIM and LSE main market listings, joint ventures, and more general corporate assignments.
Private Equity Funds
Our London corporate group includes lawyers who devote a substantial portion of their time advising on the establishment of private equity and other investment funds, primary investments in funds and transactions (both in funds and in direct investments) involving private equity funds. We also regularly advise on co-investments, including in connection with public takeovers and acquisitions. In the past 18 months, the London office advised clients on primary investments totalling in excess of $2 billion in over 50 private equity funds and on a large number of secondary transactions with an aggregate value in excess of $1 billion. Our London funds practice is international in scope and works closely with our strong practice in the US.
• +4 PQE Private Equity Funds/Corporate Lawyer
We are looking to recruit a corporate lawyer with in excess of 4 years post-qualification experience gained at an international law firm in London with a recognised private equity funds practice. The successful candidate is likely to have at least 2 to 3 years experience of private equity work in the funds field, particularly in relation to secondary transactions, co-investment transactions and/or primary or secondary syndications (most likely in the context of take-private transactions). The candidate will have a keen interest in private equity funds transactional matters and will wish to combine working in this field with building up experience also in the broader corporate field, particularly private company M&A, buy-outs and joint venture transactions. The ideal candidate is likely to have worked with private equity houses in relation to fund formations, take-private transactions or buy-outs and to have led or have had a significant role in secondary, co-investment or syndication transactions, in addition to having had a wide-ranging experience of corporate M&A generally. It is anticipated that the candidate’s time will, broadly, be split equally between funds transactional work and broader corporate work.
