Hong Kong is the user friendly, lively financial hub of Asia. The mature legal market presents a range of opportunities for lawyers specialising in corporate, banking, capital markets and litigation. Nearly all the major UK, US and Australian law firms have offices in Hong Kong with teams of both local and internationally qualified lawyers. While some roles do require Chinese language skills there is still demand for well trained commonwealth qualified lawyers to draft in English.
With a low tax rate at a maximum 17% and salary levels as good as those in London and the States there is clearly a strong financial incentive to work in Hong Kong. While apartment rentals are expensive other livings costs are relatively low so when you look at your overall outgoings you are actually better off.
Hong Kong is well placed for vacations being only a few hours away from the likes of Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. China is on your doorstep with a wealth of culture and sights to soak up. Hong Kong life is very easy and convenient. While people tend to work hard they also play hard and have everything at their fingertips.
